There is a lot of noise around how often you should be posting on social media. Daily posting, multiple times a day, never miss a day. The reality is much simpler.
There is no perfect posting frequency that works for every business. What matters most is consistency and quality.
If you are just getting started, a strong and realistic baseline is three to four posts per week on Instagram and two to three posts per week on Facebook. This is enough to keep your business visible without overwhelming your audience or stretching your team too thin.
Posting every day might sound like the ideal, but it often leads to rushed or repetitive content. That is where things start to slip. Social media platforms prioritise engagement, not volume. A few well thought out, valuable posts will always outperform a high volume of average content.
Instead of focusing on how often you are posting, shift your attention to what you are posting.
Ask yourself:
Is this helpful or educational?
Does it show our work or results?
Is it building trust with our audience?
Does it encourage someone to take action?
If the answer is yes, you are on the right track.
To make this easier, here are some examples of content that works well:
Helpful or educational content
Share tips your audience can actually use. For example, a builder might post “3 things to check before starting a renovation” or a lawyer might explain “what to do if you receive a legal notice”.
Show your work or results
Take people behind the scenes. Before and after photos, project updates, or a quick walkthrough of a finished job all help people see what you actually do.
Build trust with your audience
Share client testimonials, case studies, or even answer common questions you get asked. For example, “How long does a website build take?” or “What does SEO actually involve?”
Encourage action
Make it clear what the next step is. This could be “Book a free consult”, “Send us a message”, or “Download our guide”. Don’t assume people know what to do next.
You can also mix up your content types to keep things interesting:
Short videos explaining a concept
Carousel posts breaking down a process step by step
Photos with a story behind the job
Quick tips or myth-busting posts
Client wins or recent results
Another key factor to consider is your capacity. The best strategy is one you can maintain long term. Posting three times a week consistently will deliver far better results than posting every day for a short burst and then disappearing.
At Cultivate Digital, we focus on building simple and sustainable content strategies that actually generate leads, not just likes. That means understanding your audience, your services, and what content will move people to take action.
If you are unsure whether you are posting enough or posting the right content, we are always happy to take a look and give you honest feedback.
