Unorthodox tips for small business
I recently read this great article – here is my abbreviated version.
1. Sell happiness
Step selling your product and sell joy, happiness or fun. People are more likely to buy off people they like.
2. Be a specialist
Become an expert and write niche articles – Google will pick up on this and send you targeted ready-to-buy customers. You’ll be getting fewer leads but your potential customers will be red hot and ready to buy what you’re selling.
3. Become best mates with your competition
One of the best things I have done personally is to go to industry meet ups and make friends. Not only can you bounce ideas off them but sometimes they will send you work that doesn’t suit their business.
4. Sack a client
You can’t make everyone happy. Sounds silly huh? But rather than waste your time trying to please them just fire them and find two more new customers that match what you are about.
5. 24hr business machine
Sometimes working to hard for too long hampers your productivity. You’ll be surprised how much you get done when tackling a new task with fresh eyes.
6. Exercise
Running your own business can be 24×7. Going for a walk or some form of exercise will give time to think and balance that work – life schedule.
7. Say ‘Yes’ More
Saying yes can lead your business in interesting directions. They are not always successful but they can keep your motivation up and create great stories.
8. Buy a Watch
Being punctual is the key to more sales and better relationships. Get there early and finish on time.
Questions and Answers
Q: How do I write great headlines?
A: Offer something for free, this might be advice or instructions on how to do it yourself. But make sure you do. Don’t tease them with the answer and make them use your services for a fee. There’s just too much other free info out there on the web.
Try writing an extremely positive or negative title. Saying something is the “best” or “failure” might be the push they need to click and read more.
