Chrome overtakes IE – June

Chrome overtakes IE in browser wars

According to StatCounter chrome is now the king. Internet explorer a close second and Firefox third. While other more western stats still see IE holding fast its only a matter of time.
What’s this mean for you and me, a safer move to other browsers as IE is notoriously bad for virus/malware so the 15% drop is only a good thing.

Web development wise it would be nice for IE to die a quick death and leave us with two main browsers to build for – making it cheaper and quicker for us.
But that might be a while sadly.

Adword scams

Just recently I have had two clients mention Adword scams.

I did a quick google on their phone numbers and found a heap of information – all bad.

A quick guide, if someone calls out of the blue be sceptical. Check their email, phone and address. If they check out and look real and exist in Aus then do one last quick google (name) + scam see what pops up.

Here is a snippet:

“UPDATE – Now they seem to have closed accounts for customers who have paid for them meaning that they may have received $25,000 upfront for an ADWORDS campaign and are not even running the campaign for $5 a day…”

Worlds first Wikipedia town

A town in Wales has become the first Wikipedia town. In six months Monmouth has included 1,000 QR codes (those new bar-codes) on buildings and sites each relating to its own Wikipedia article – almost like an outdoor museum. The purpose? Tourism! You can even take a virtual tour of the town via their App.

Questions and Answers

Q: How do I make backups?

A: If your on our hosting then your safe. We make daily backups which are kept for seven days. But these backups are for major problems like viruses and so on.

If you just want to make some changes and keep the older version just incase, then a quick way is to click the html button when editing a page. This button is next to the T and W icons on the folders. Click it and copy all the code from the pop up – plaste this code into a notepad document – not word – save it somewhere safe. You can now go back to this notepad document anytime and paste it back in.
